2020 has been a year full of surprises for Rebecca and the team at Capital Chemist.
At the start of the New Year the team was busy making sure their patients affected by the bushfires received their medication, followed by a seven week project to expand the store where they added three consultation rooms and a dispensing robot just before the pandemic hit.
If that wasn’t enough, the branch received the 2020 Guild Pharmacy of the Year award in March.
Instead of taking time off to celebrate, Rebecca doubled down her efforts to care for her locals, working tirelessly to administer hundreds of flu vaccinations to the community.
They proactively implemented new procedures to keep their patients safe, increasing their contactless delivery service, installing a triage desk, and enforcing strict social distancing and cleaning protocols.
Through all this the branch’s team of dedicated pharmacists worked extra to deliver medicine to patients in isolation and make sure they were okay.
Rebecca’s says her grateful patients and hardworking team got her through these tough times. Her regular patients were deeply supportive, bringing the team coffee, baked goods, and flowers as tokens of gratitude – a reminder of the importance of communities in these uncertain times.
Amazingly, aside from continuing their support of the Capital Chemist Community Matters program and mentoring student pharmacists, Rebecca has increased her support for local charities since the pandemic hit, as they can’t hold their usual fundraising activities.
