Marg opened ClearCut hairdressing in the 70s, wanting to help her locals feel and look their best. In the 50 years since, Marg has been a core member of the Mentone community, doing her best to help in any way she can.
ClearCut has been a proud sponsor of the St Bedes Mentone Tigers Football Club for over 40 years, even offering club members free haircuts during the season and half-price in the off season. Although the pandemic has cancelled play for the season, Marg continues to honour this agreement and says there is no doubt in her mind she’ll keep supporting the club, going so far as to have Ron, her partner take a position on the Board to help plan for their future.
Marg’s support for her community doesn’t stop there, she provides free services to cancer patients who want to shave their heads and contributes to a foundation which provides hairdressing training in developing countries.
Aside from this, for the last ten years they have helped their local college, providing work experience, and complimentary models hair and make-up for their annual fashion show.
Like most small businesses, ClearCut took a financial hit and a sense of letting their locals down after the lockdown started, but Marg says that this is overridden by her determination to help her locals as “that’s what they do”.
