Leisa, Owner, Gisborne Health Essentials

Bound by a light-hearted mandate, and a team that makes you feel nurtured from the moment you walk through the door, Leisa and her team at Gisborne Health Essentials are both charming and good for your health and wellbeing!

Leisa bought Gisborne Health Essentials in 2018, but the store has a long history in her local community. Starting out as a typical health food shop, as their popularity has grown, the store has adapted to the needs of their community by providing a range of services through four naturopaths, an acupuncturist, remedial therapist, kinesiologist and a natural beauty therapist.

When the restrictions hit, they were unable to offer in person kinesiology, facials or massage, but the team refused to give up. Although the reduced their hours, they were kept busy by offering free delivery of their products to their locals in the Macedon Ranges or Sunbury, all made in their little Fiat 500! They also brushed up on their Zoom skills and offered their clients the option of online consultations if it made them more comfortable – Leisa says she’s now a Zoom expert!

Throughout the pandemic, Leisa and the team at GEH pivoted to offer a monthly healthy essentials box, delivered to their clients’ door. These feature a range of beautiful and natural holistic surprises that Leisa has specifically chosen to make people feel good. She says their mission is to keep customers happy and healthy while they’re forced to isolate. Leisa loves that so many of her locals have been purchasing their boxes for some of their locals who could do with a surprise, and she’s received some great feedback. Aside from this, they support raffles and fundraisers in their local community, as well as taking on students for work experience.

Leisa says that although they’ve been doing it tough, there has definitely been an increase in people looking after their health and wellbeing. The team at Gisborne Health Essentials are there to support their community, as they always have, and they’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process of adapting to make sure the needs of their clients are met.
