Meet long-time Daylesford locals and the owners of Captains Creek Vineyard, Doug and Carolyn. The couple established the vineyard all the way back in 1994, but the eighty-hectare farm has been in their family since 1909, spanning five generations of the family over 100 years.
The vineyard has a cellar door which features a historic 100-year-old pickers hut, and since founding the Vineyard Doug and Carolyn have developed the land and they now produce Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Verjuice, Sparkling Red and White wines. Captains Creek employ local staff across all stages of the business and are proud to work with local farmers and producers across Hepburn Shire when they’re creating their wines.
The support of their local community is vital to Doug and Carolyn, both for patronage of their wines and to keep the Cellar Door open, but also as they rely on local farmers and other producers for their restaurant. Their restaurant focuses on local produce and producers and is the perfect place to relax on the verandah and gaze at the vineyards in the summer, and a cozy place to stretch out by the roaring open fire in the winter.
The team at Captain’s Creek have developed an online store so that Australian’s around the country have access to their amazing locally produced wine, and their locals can find them at their local farmers market or in their local bottle-o.
